The game’s developer, Playtonic Games, has taken all of the critical feedback from the last few months in stride, and plans to address a number of widely parroted issues with the the game in an upcoming update titled “Spit ’n’ Polish”.
The update will make tweaks to the gameplay and options of Yooka Laylee in order to add options such as the ability to skip cut-scenes, speed up dialogue text, improve controls in certain sections such as the Kartos mine-cart sections and mini-games, provide additional control of the camera, and so on. Their intention seems to be to polish the rougher bits of the game that received the most common criticism from fans.
The announcement of this update also briefly discussed the current progress Playtonic has made in porting Yooka Laylee to the Nintendo Switch. So far they have stated that they are entering the testing phase for the console, with hopes to have the port done in the near future. The dev also confirmed that all additions made in the coming update will be included in the Switch version of the game on Day One.
Yooka-Laylee is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with a port for the Nintendo Switch currently in the works.
